Treatment 197 – Monkey Shines

mshines7

This week, we speculate from whom George Romero draws his inspiration, learn about helter skelters, and occasionally talk about monkeys, when we polish up on our…

Monkey Shines

Special Guest Jon Cross of the After Movie Diner burns bridge after bridge among his former co-hosts and guests!

Kirk psychoanalyzes Jon with frightening accuracy!

Doug works toward getting Jon to curse him in song! (progress pending)

Next week: You picked the winner of 2014’s Schlocktober poll, and it’s a real slugfest: Night of the Creeps!

Treatment 144 – The Mighty Peking Man

MIGHTYPEKINGMANAnd so-called “Simian-tember” ends with a wimper and not a bang. That wimper being a guy in an ape suit, stomping a bunch of cardboard models of Hong Kong.

The Mighty Peking Man

Yep, it’s a giant ape movie that came just one year after the King Kong flick we just covered a couple of weeks ago. I’m sure that’s a total coincidence, and not a cheesy ripoff from the creative geniuses over at Shaw Brothers! Don’t let it’s temporal placement fool you, though, because this version is double the fun, triple the sexiness, and quintuple the action of it’s American counterpart!

STOMP… your way through the mail-bag segment, where Kirk screws up the mailbag with his usual panache!!!

SWING… on a vine of joy, as Marc is out-nerded by Matt, and manages to erroneously declare Matt’s syllogism to be unsound!!!

FALL… to a gentle death from a hundred-story building, when Doug returns to the show and has the manliest voice-cracking episode ever!!!

You can watch The Mighty Peking Man on Netflix, and if you’re a fan of Godzilla or King Kong, it’s worth a watch. Also, be sure to head over to iTunes and rate the show, maybe even SUBSCRIBE…instead of listening to the show from this website?!? I dunno…seems simple enough. DO IT! If you’re anti-iTunes, then head to Stitcher, and add us to your favorites!!

Next Week: SCHLOCKTOBER ’13 makes it’s amazing debut!! We kick the month off with the first of the films that won the Schlocktober Poll, Piranha!!!

Treatment 143 – Project X

ProjectXSo-called “simiantember” continues, with yet another “monkey” movie. Let’s face it, folks, we didn’t think this one through. We’re only on the 3rd of 4 monkey flicks, and we’re scraping bottom in a big way. To add to the pain, we were Doug-less this week. We apologize in advance.

Project X

This is a sappy sort of feel-good flick from the 80s, that features Matthew Broderick, Helen Hunt, and a bunch of chimpanzees tugging at heartstrings. William Sadler also stars, as the jerk. It’s a hard movie to really talk about, because aside from some really unlikely plot points, it’s not really very amusing.

FLY… to the heights of weirdness, when Kirk reveals the incredibly strange additional dialogue that he’s written for the film!!!

SOAR… on wings of WTF, when Matt begins ducking under the table to do “boner checks!!!”

CRASH… and burn, when Marc tries another snappy comeback but comes up short as usual!!!

Find Project X on Netflix, if you dare. Also, be sure to head over to iTunes and look up our show! We would love to see some new reviews, or just subscribe to the show for future disasters…er..I mean…episodes. If you’re anti-iTunes, find us on Stitcher radio instead!

Next Week: Ape Month comes to a close (phew!) when we head to Hong Kong for The Mighty Peking Man!!!

NOTE: Also be sure to vote for your SCHLOCKTOBER ’13 movies by 5pm on Tuesday of next week, before the poll closes! Vote in the widget to the right, or head here!!

Treatment 128 – Shakma

ShakmaHatesDoorsSHAKMAAAAAAAA!!!!

This episode features Doug, Matt, Marc….. and Shakma!

Sorry, we became so enamored with the announcer in the trailer for this film that it was almost an obsession. Seriously, this trailer oversells the film in some really awesome ways. And yet, we all couldn’t help but be drawn to the amazing SHAKMA!

SHAKMAAAA!!!

Yep, this flick stars the inimitable Roddy McDowall in a role he very nearly phones in. He’s joined by Amanda Wyss, who is most memorable as Beth from Better Off Dead. It also has Ari Myers, of Kate & Allie fame. Oh, and Christopher Atkins, but we’re still trying to forget him and his mom jeans.

EXPERIMENT… with the guys as they attempt George Gaynes impressions galore!!!

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE… as Matt gets bored with listener mail and invents a cross between a Raptor and Shakma!!!

HAVE YOUR FACE TORN OFF… by amazingness, as Doug drops the most hilarious Buffalo Bill impression ever!!!

As usual, find Shakma on Netflix Instant. We also found it in parts on YouTube, if you want to see it really bad. Also, be sure to head to iTunes and drop  a rating for the podcast!! We love your feedback! If you’re a Stitcher Radio user, you can find us there as well…be sure to add us to your favorites.

Next Week: After this huge success, we’re staying with the 90s schlock and watching the incredibly awful-looking Legion of Iron!!!
