Treatment 134 – Battlestar Galactica 78 / Star Trek:TOS

SummerRerunsIt’s week two of our month-long television extravaganza that we’re calling Summer Reruns! Yes, we’re watching the cheesiest episodes of some of the funnest TV shows of the 60s, 70s, and 80s!

Battlestar Galactica 78 / Star Trek:TOS

Battlestar turns out to be a bit of a snore-fest, as we watch Baltar’s Escape from Season 1. Though some of us are surprised that it takes itself a bit more seriously than we expected! Then we swing into high gear, with the Season 1 Star Trek:TOS episode Devil in the Dark!

TRANSPORT… yourself, as Matt kick’s off the first ever episode of Cool Sandwich Bros, and Marc reveals what his gym teacher used to call him in Junior High!!!

WARP… your reality into one that’s slightly better, when Doug reads the listeners’ favorite TV Show themes, and much bad singing ensues!!!

NAVIGATE… the amazing course of a Schlock Treatment conversation, as Kirk actually tries to write material, Matt starts talking about chickens, the characters of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether are brought about, and Doug drops some Robear Burble knowledge!!

Both of these shows are streaming on Netflix, so you can always catch them there. Also, please do us a favor and head over to iTunes and rate the podcast for us! We’re fighting for listeners, and we’re right on the edge of the iTunes store charts!

Next Week: More Summer Reruns, but this time in the form of cartoons! We’re talking GI Joe (Once Upon a Joe), and Jem and the Holograms (Journey Through Time)!!!

  1. *sigh*
Really? Only one other comment? Okay. Doug, get ready to Foghorn Leghorn it up.

For one thing, I was most impressed (though not in a particularly good way) by Jem, which I (being a male) had never seen before. A few things I learned (for those who didn’t catch my livetweets):

    1. Jem is her name. She’s truly outrageous. The music’s contagious.
    2. She also has three shades of hair color–pink, white and blonde.
    3. Techrat’s voice reminds me of Skeletor.
    4. If you cut out the music videos in this show, each episode would be 14 minutes long.
    5. The writers of Jem don’t know anything about Mozart, or music in general.
    6. Mozart was the first person to slide across the stage.
    7. Ben Stiller was a big band orchestra leader.
    8. I may have suffered a severe head injury while watching this, making it difficult for me to review G.I. Joe.

      1. Oh, you wanted a comment on THIS WEEK’s show! Well…

        *paper rustling*

Jeez, I must’ve left it in my other time machine.

Now, where is my other time machine?

  2. Today I had a turkey, roast beef, and swiss on whole wheat. No vegetables. MORE MEAT.

    Cool. Sandwich bros.

  3. What the hell happened to this site? It looks all weird and grey now. And not the good kind of grey, like Erin Grey. This is worse than a Facebook redesign.

  4. The only thing that I really remember about the original Battlestar Galactica show – well, other than the Cylons – is that they made a toy that killed children, which automatically made it the most awesome toy ever. If memory serves it shot a small rocket and a small child could theoretically put the front part of the ship in his mouth, fire the rocket, and choke to death. Why we didn’t try this strategy against the kaiju at the Battle of Hong Kong is beyond me.

    1. Dammit. I forgot to mention that this show is, as always, awesome and funny and I really thought I was listening to the Sandwich Boys podcast for 5 minutes. 2 of these statements are true.

  5. Something really weird happened when we recorded the episode this week. I think its going to be shocking to everyone except one person…
