Treatment 56 -Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

We thought that it would be fun to return to the world of TV schlock, this week. What we were thinking I have NO idea!

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

Yep, it doesn’t get much cheesier than this. This is a series that straddles two of the cheesiest decades, and it takes the worst of both. Gil Gerard stars as the title character, and Erin Gray is mostly just stunningly gorgeous. We focus on the pilot episode, dubbed “Awakening.”

THRILL… as Doug croons the “Space Boat” theme song, and attempts another Topol impression!!!

GASP… as the guys drool over Erin Gray, and Matt professes his undying love!!!

CRINGE… as Marc expounds on the future of boogieing!!!

You can watch the entire series on Netflix Instant, if you’re in an ascetic mood. You can find the DVD set from Amazon in our store! Also, be sure to subscribe to the podcast on iTunes, drop us a review, and tell a friend!!! Then stay tuned for our Christmas episode!

Next Week: We celebrate Christmas with special guest Ralph Santiago III of the RS3Feed podcast! We talk about that Christmas classic, Cobra!!

  1. The joke about Buck in the vortex was the high point! I grew up watching this show and at the time we 70s kids didn’t realize quite how strange it was. I remembered ‘biddle, biddle, biddle, what’s up buck’ and of course Erin Gray but it took the show to bring the true horror home to me. Thanks guys – I think.

  2. I’ve mentioned it to you guys on Twitter, but I’ll say it again here, great show. I started with this episode because I’ve been forcing myself to watch the Buck Rogers TV series since I picked up real cheap on DVD. It’s pretty torturous. Season 1 is bad and so far season 2 is shaping up to be quite worse.

I guess there were two version of the first episode, one for theaters and one for TV. It sounds like the version you guys watched was the TV version. The DVD has the movie version and an atrocious Bondesque opening sequence. YouTube keeps pulling it so the best I can come up with is this crappy video. Would love your guys’ take on this thing.

Anyway, I’m working my way through more episodes. Look for a new iTunes review from me soon.

    1. That is the weirdest theatrical opening ever! It’s like an awkward photo shoot on video tape. Also…dumb song. I loved Erin Grey’s Pantene Pro-V hair-dropping shot!

Will keep an eye out for you review, man! Thanks for listening!
